It's an attitude given life through feeling... and it's called racism in the case of Richards. It's a cultural attitude embedded in our emotional life and kept at bay from our putting words to it intellectually. <BR/><BR/><BR/>It's there....we won't admit it to ourselves....we claim to have a vague sense of awareness of it....like your friend....meaning we feel it...and that ...is everything. If you feel it...it's more powerful than any thought. Feeling is closer to behavior than thought. People act on feeling. <BR/><BR/>Richards is certainly a racist. I have racist feelings. I am a racist. It's that simple.
